VeriFone fires up popular reality TV series

VeriFone Inc. will hit the stage during the debut episode of NBC's All-Star Celebrity Apprentice set to air on March 3. This marks the 13th season for The Apprentice television series hosted by Donald Trump, and the first program appearance by global electronic payment solutions provider VeriFone.

The show's all-star cast will feature 13 previously "fired" competitors from past seasons, and 2010 Celebrity Apprentice winner Bret Michaels. Each will vie for a second chance to raise money and awareness for his or her charity of choice.

"Every week, the celebrity contestants will work in two teams, each under the guidance of a designated project manager, to compete in business-driven tasks around New York City, using their fame, along with their proven business acumen, to win challenges," NBC stated in a press release. "Each task will end in the boardroom, where contestants must account for their actions and be judged by Trump and his advisers."

Background role as fundraiser

VeriFone's role in the series will reportedly be to facilitate processing of charitable donations raised by participating celebrities during the program's business-driven challenges.

Although specifics were not revealed in advance of the broadcast, VeriFone hinted at what could be expected in its new role as the celebrities hit the streets of New York this season. "As the payments provider, our wireless solutions, highly suited to small business ventures, are likely to be used in some of the challenges," said Pete Bartolik of VeriFone Media Relations.

On May 19, the last person standing will be named Celebrity Apprentice and awarded a $250,000 bonus check written to the winner's designated charity.
