Jason Oxman leaving ETA to pursue new opportunity
Yesterday, Jason Oxman, CEO of the Electronic Transactions Association for the past seven years, posted a tweet that has had wide reverberations in the payments industry. He notified his followers he's leaving the ETA to join Information Technology Industry Council (@ITI_TechTweets on Twitter) as president and CEO.
Oxman stated that "ITI is a dynamic organization and I am very much looking forward to the next chapter."
Kevin Jones, CEO of Celero Commerce, and chairman and president of the ETA, subsequently issued a statement in appreciation of Oxman's service. “We are grateful to Jason for his service as ETA’s CEO at a pivotal time in the evolution of our industry," he said. "In his seven years as ETA’s CEO, Jason has doubled the size of the organization, helping transform ETA into the global voice of the payments technology industry. We wish him all the best as he takes his passion for technology to the President and CEO role at ITI."
The ETA is a global trade association representing more than 500 payments and technology companies that, collectively, process more than $21 trillion in purchases worldwide. Jones spoke to the association's next steps.
"ETA is lucky to have a dedicated and talented staff of professionals who provide world class service to ETA’s 500 member companies," he stated. "As ETA’s President and Chairman, I will work closely with the ETA team and with Jason as he transitions to his new organization in late February. We will begin the search for a new CEO that shares our vision for growing the value that we bring our members through education, advocacy, and events in late February.”
