Remembering Jose Machuca
The payments industry mourns the loss of Jose Machuca, owner and manager of WorldPro LLC, the parent company of SignaPay. Machuca passed away Thurs., April 9, 2020, in Queens, New York, following complications caused by COVID-19. The popular payments industry leader successfully had led the WorldPro organization since 2000, and is widely remembered as a friendly, caring person with a great sense of humor and down-to-earth management style.
John Martillo, CEO at SignaPay, credits Machuca for his love and support for more than thirty years. He stated that in addition to being a beloved brother-in-law and family member, Machuca was a valued friend, mentor and business partner.
A love of life and business
“This is especially difficult for me because if it wasn’t for Jose, I would not be the individual I am today,” Martillo wrote in an April 10, 2020, letter to friends, colleagues and business partners. “Jose took me under his wing over thirty years ago and taught me life and business lessons that have helped guide my relationships, career and companies ever since.”
Martillo further noted that SignaPay will perpetuate Machuca’s legacy, which he characterized as a love of life and business. “Jose was busy embracing life and business right up until a couple of weeks ago," he said. "He was devoted to assisting his merchants and supporting his employees and family - always with a smile, always with a story.”
SignaPay will continue to service WorldPro’s needs, Martillo stated, by providing support and guidance to his many employees, merchants and channel partners across the country.
