ATM industry honors LeRoy Huntimer

ATM industry leader LeRoy Huntimer will long be remembered for his friendly disposition and stewardship of the ATM community. Huntimer, who passed away from cancer on Dec. 9, 2020, was senior vice president, sponsorship services at PB&T Bank and an active participant in industry affairs.

David Tente, U.S. executive director at the ATM Industry Association recalled Huntimer had generously devoted time to ATMIA's governmental relations, independent ATM deployers and sponsoring financial institutions committees, as well as ATMIA's U.S. regional board of directors. His involvement earned him the ATMIA Outstanding Service Award in 2016 and 2018, Tente noted.

“LeRoy always had the best interests of independent ATM operators as a priority,” Tente said in a statement. “Whether it be new options for vault cash or support of our legislative advocacy efforts, he never stopped looking for new ways to help the industry.”

Bruce Renard, executive director at the National ATM Council, called LeRoy a special friend and colleague whose presence will be very much missed throughout the ATM industry.

"I am thankful for the personal and professional privilege of working closely with LeRoy in developing NAC’s ATM Vault Cash & Settlement Account Guidelines, and in our ongoing work to restore reasonable access to banking services for America’s ATM entrepreneurs following Operation Choke Point," Renard said. "LeRoy’s memory and contributions will live on through the continued vital delivery of essential cash to the millions of Americans who rely on retail ATMs each day.”

A lasting legacy

Friends and family gathered Dec. 14, 2020, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux Falls, S.D., to celebrate Huntimer's well-lived life. They remembered a devoted husband, avid fisherman, dog lover and award-winning ATM industry leader.

"He quickly learned the ropes in this field and became a leader in the ATM industry, earning the respect of clients and associates all over the US and the US Virgin Islands," his obituary stated, depicting his 11-year ATM industry career as abundantly filled with accolades and service.

George Sarantopoulos, founder and CEO at Access One Solutions and National ATM Council chair, described Huntimer as a stalwart of the ATM industry, stating, "It's hard to imagine our business sector without LeRoy's presence. His legacy will have a lasting impact and will make a real difference for America's ATM entrepreneurs."
