Fiserv joint venture launches MoneyPass Group

The ATM services market gained a new independent player Aug. 5, 2026, with the launch of MoneyPass Group, a joint venture between Fiserv Inc. and Bridgeport Partners, a private equity firm specializing in financial technology. The company combines Fiserv's MoneyPass Network, ATM Managed Services and Cash Intelligence businesses.

MoneyPass Group has been positioned as an independent network and cash infrastructure company that supports clients with the management of cash access, ATM operations and surcharge-free ATM connectivity at national scale. The company operates one of the nation's largest surcharge-free ATM networks, with more than 37,000 ATM locations serving approximately 160 million cardholders.

The MoneyPass Network dates to Fiserv's 2018 acquisition of the business from U.S. Bank. MoneyPass Group now serves financial institutions, fintechs, ATM operators and merchants across the United States.

The new company is led by Erik Wichita, a 30-year veteran of Fiserv, who serves as MoneyPass chief executive officer, and Don Layden, an executive partner at Bridgeport, who serves as executive chairman. Bridgeport holds a 51 percent controlling ownership stake in MoneyPass Group.

An ATM company standing on its own

Fiserv and Bridgeport revealed in May 2026 that they were establishing the joint venture. The move was described as part of Fiserv's "One Fiserv" strategy, an initiative launched last year alongside the company's third-quarter 2025 financial results, which saw the banking and payments technology firm slash its annual revenue growth outlook to between 3.5 percent and 4 percent, from projected revenue growth of 10 percent one quarter earlier.

Bridgeport said in a statement that it intends to support continued investment in MoneyPass products, technology and commercial organization. Fiserv, which holds a 49 percent ownership stake, said it will support the company through its technology expertise, industry knowledge, client relationships and referral network.

"Today MoneyPass Group stands on its own, with the scale of a market leader, the focus of an independent company and the support of both Bridgeport Partners and Fiserv," Wichita said. "We are focused on investing in the products and people to make us faster, more agile and even more valuable to the financial institutions we serve, while delivering the reliability, security and service that their customers depend on every day."

Derek Horton, a partner at Bridgeport, said, "MoneyPass Group brings together the network, operating capabilities and software required to manage cash access at national scale. It has the scale Fiserv built, now paired with the focus of a standalone company and the support of both owners."

As part of the transaction, MoneyPass Group and Fiserv entered into long-term commercial agreements that provide for continuity of service for existing clients and give clients of both companies access to a broad range of complementary services, the two companies said in a statement.

    Fiserv eyes Asian market

The joint venture is the first of several actions Fiserv is expected to take in keeping with its One Fiserv strategy. Fiserv CEO Michael Lyons said in March that the company plans to sell off a "series of businesses" that together account for "hundreds of millions" of dollars in revenue.

That strategy also calls for Fiserv to expand the market for Clover, its flagship POS and payment terminal suite. The company has been pursuing international growth for the platform through various partnerships, including an agreement with Sumitomo Mitsui Card Co. Fiserv has been preparing to bring Clover to Japan through its partnership with Sumitomo Mitsui building on recent launches in Australia and Brazil.
