Trade association tidbits

As we begin 2012, The Electronic Transactions Association, the Smart Card Alliance and the Northeast Acquirers Association are all doing good things for payments.

ETA board updates

Electronic Transactions Association members elected three new board members and reelected two current members, according to the organization's interim Chief Executive Officer, Pamela Furneaux.

Chuck Harris, President of NetSpend Corp.; Mike Passilla, President and CEO of Elavon Inc., and Chris Hylen, General Manager and Vice President for Intuit Inc., were elected to their first two-year term on the ETA's board. Gregory Cohen, President of Moneris Solutions, and Jeff Rosenblatt, President, EVO Merchant Services, were each reelected to an additional two-year term.

Eddie Myers, President and Chief Operating Officer of Payment Processing Inc., ascended from the role of President-elect to ETA President as of Jan. 1, 2012. And the ETA board elected the following officers: Roy Banks, CEO, Accelerated Payment Technologies, as President-elect for 2012; Kim Fitzsimmons, Senior Vice President, First Data Services, Treasurer; and Debra Rossi, Executive Vice President, Wells Fargo Bank, Secretary. Rick Pylant, Chairman and CEO, Strategic Payment Systems Inc., remains on the board as immediate past President.

SCA seeks speaker, topic proposals

Proposals for speakers and topics are now being accepted for the NFC Solutions Summit 2012. Proposals should be submitted online at www.smartcardalliance.org/nfcsolutions by Jan. 23, 2012. They will be reviewed by a multi-industry conference steering committee led by members of the Smart Card Alliance and the NFC Forum.

The committee will be selecting presentations for the first comprehensive American showcase for the burgeoning technology of near field communications (NFC).

NEAA meeting coming this month
