NAC 2015 to celebrate ATM's 'indies'

The National ATM Council Inc. (NAC) expects a record turn-out for its third annual NAC2015 Conference & Expo to be held Sept. 15 through 17, 2015, at the Las Vegas Tropicana. Exhibit hall space and hotel rooms have sold out, but there is no shortage of space for attendees, the nonprofit association reported. NAC credits its support of independent ATM deployers (IADs) and a varied conference agenda with gaining interest and attendance in the upcoming event.

"Our theme for the NAC2015 Conference & Expo is Success Today and Tomorrow, and this year's event will, in fact, be all about helping America's talented and hardworking ATM owners and operators succeed in both today's competitive ATM marketplace and in the world of evolving payments technologies," said Bruce Wayne Renard, NAC Executive Director.

Member-owned, member-driven

Jacksonville, Fla.-based NAC, a 501C (6) organization, was established in 2011 through a merger of The National Association of ATM ISOs and Operators and the Alliance of Specialized Communications Providers. Both groups were committed to representing the interests of independent, nonbank owners, operators and suppliers of ATMs in the United States. NAC Chair Bonnie Dalrymple said she has seen the member-owned and member-driven organization grow exponentially in a few short years.

"The dramatic transformation of the ATM ecosystem has been largely driven by emerging technologies and the changing role of ATM operators," she said. "We plan to address these topics in great detail at NAC2015, especially with regard to their impact on ATM deployers, affiliates, providers and suppliers."

Government, industry leaders slated

This year's conference will feature presentations and panel discussions with government and ATM industry leaders.

Rep. Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C., will deliver opening remarks at NAC2015's initial reception. Rep. Mulvaney, who represents South Carolina's 5th congressional district, serves on the House Financial Services Committee, a jurisdiction of particular importance to the ATM industry. He formerly served on the Small Business Committee, House Budget Committee and Joint Congressional-Economic Committee in the House of Representatives.

David Lott, a payments risk expert in the Retail Payments Risk Forum at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, will make a return appearance at NAC2015. Lott is a subject-matter expert and frequent contributor to Take On Payments, the Atlanta Fed's blog focused on emerging risks in retail payment systems and fostering collaborative efforts to detect and mitigate risk.

Advanced, beginner educational tracks

Two educational tracks led by ATM industry veterans and thought leaders and designed to educate ATM industry stakeholders on a range of substantive issues, will be held on Tues., Sept. 15 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Track One, ATM Fundamentals, provides newcomers with a multidimensional industry overview with workshops in business models, best practices, current issues and the evolving financial regulatory environment.

Track Two, designed for "ATM MBAs" explores nuances in business development for established ATM owners and deployers interested in growing their businesses. Slated topics include:

  • Should I be an ISO or an affiliate?
  • How do I get into broader banking services and bank branding?
  • Profitable cash management strategies for 2016
  • Potential business options for today's ATM providers
  • When is the right time to sell or buy an ATM portfolio?
  • My best "ah-ha" insights this year in the ATM business!

Mission-critical topics to be explored

NAC2015 will address leading topics of interest among ATM industry stakeholders, including a field report on Europay, MasterCard and Visa readiness; new developments and strategies related to Operation Choke Point; a view from the Federal Reserve on the state of cash; and the future state of the ATM industry. The conference and expo is designed to be interactive, with opportunities for attendees and exhibitors to make their individual and collective voices heard.
