Holiday spending trends and impacts

Keeping a vigilant eye on same store sales activity across the millions of merchant locations First Data Corp. processes transactions for in the United States, First Data publishes aggregated data throughout the year on relevant spending trends.

First Data released a series of holiday infographics containing highlights from the report. Two recently caught our eye. The first reveals the top five U.S. city destination choices for holiday 2017 travelers, compares average visitor ticket size versus local resident and fast food spending penetration by destination city. The second reveals the top brick-and-mortar and ecommerce retail categories, the most active commerce segments, comparing mornings and evenings, and type of stores most often visited within two hours of shopping at electronics, appliance or building materials stores.
