Mike Katz, executive vice president of T-Mobile for Business, said T-Mobile wanted to offer an alternative to never-ending fee structures that mobile POS providers typically impose on SMBs.
“Not surprisingly, paying fees on top of fees and waiting days for their hard-earned money is a big pain point, particularly for small businesses,” Katz said. “That’s why the Un-carrier is doing payments differently, with free same-day funding, no software licensing fees and 24/7 live support from real people.”
Philip McHugh, senior executive vice president and president of TSYS Merchant Solutions, concurred, stating that managing payments can be complex for SMBs.
“T-Mobile chose our point-of-sale platform to power GoPoint because of our deep knowledge and expertise in the payments industry,” McHugh said. “Together, we are solving critical issues that small and medium size merchants face, while bringing simplified payment solutions to businesses that not only manages day to day tasks, but also helps them grow their business.”
GoPoint for Business, powered by TSYS, will leverage TSYS’s Vital software, a POS solution TSYS launched earlier this year, and process transactions through the TSYS Propay gateway. TSYS and T-Mobile representatives said the solution will streamline efficiencies, enabling SMBs to focus on their core businesses.
The T-Mobile for Business service includes T-Mobile for Business Marketplace, a new marketplace model with affordable mobile device management, productivity solutions and live customer support, the partners noted. Marketplace Advisors provide onboarding guidance and product expertise for a range of business management software, such as Microsoft Office 365, Intuit QuickBooks Online, DocuSign Business Pro, IBM MaaS360 and VMware AirWatch Express.
T-Mobile pointed out that up to 99 employees per merchant can use GoPoint tools, reporting and insights to manage transactions, inventory and customer relationships. The service is compatible with T-Mobile ONE smartphones and tablets and GoPoint payment card readers.
As payments are becoming more mobile, merchants and consumers need portable solutions that are unaffected by power or Internet outages. GoPoint provides affordable, business-critical mobile device management, productivity software and continuous support, the partners stated.
