Known for his friendly style and down-to-earth sense of humor, Paul studied at West Chester University of Pennsylvania and Trenton State College, NJ. After serving as national sales manager at Koho Sporting Goods, Paul became an independent agent in 1978 and established his ISO business in 1995. His favorite quote was, "If you're not having fun, you're doing it wrong."
A number payments professionals whose paths crossed his recalled Paul as enjoyable to be around, active in industry affairs and a frequent attendee at the annual Southeast Acquirer Association conference. "Bill was one of the good guys, someone you'd want to have a beer with," one colleague said.
Payments industry veteran Michelle Talbott described Paul as a trusted partner and friend who was committed to the betterment of the payments industry. "Bill was one of the first people I met in our industry," she said. "He was always helpful, encouraging, supportive and willing to go the extra mile."
Talbott offered her deepest sympathies to Paul's family and network, adding that Bill was a team player who always had a story to share. We will all miss those stories, she added.
Corey Saftler, executive partner at Priority Payments - Cynergy Data, agreed, stating that he valued his relationship with Paul. "It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Bill Paul from Covid 19," he said. "Bill was a lease/finance client of mine, who, like many of my clients, became a good friend. Bill was a gregarious, cigar smoking, fun loving guy. He will be missed. R.I.P. Bill."
