Joyce Brocaglia, EWF founder and chief executive officer at Alta Associates, stated the EWF's holistic approach to serving women in the infosec community is its greatest differentiator. "The EWF conference is the one place that women gather every year to be inspired, energized and to build relationships with the brightest and most dynamic women in our field," she said.
Diana Kelley, 2021 EWF conference chair, encouraged women in the infosec community to participate, stating she has been with the EWF since its inception in 2002. “The EWF Annual Conference is a unique opportunity to share and collaborate – we look forward to hearing your voice and learning from your experience this year,” she said.
Describing the EWF as a sisterhood and premier member organization, Kelley noted its members specialize in all facets of security, including cybersecurity, information technology, governance, risk, compliance and privacy. The EWF tailors its educational programs to meet the needs of all members, from industry veterans to emerging leaders, she added. In addition to its annual conference, the EWF hosts forums and mentorship programs for millennials and Gen Z members, regional meetings, leadership development initiatives, and networking opportunities.
Kelley further noted that the EWF supports members in achieving their goals and celebrating each other's accomplishments while providing education, access and opportunities to women throughout their careers. Each year, the organization awards Women of Influence who have contributed to corporate, government, academic and vendor sectors, a One to Watch award to an emerging thought leader and Executive of The Year.
Finalists, selected by a judging panel from nominations submitted by nominee peers, will be announced in August 2021, event planners stated, adding that an awards ceremony will take place at the 19th annual EWF Virtual Conference. Deadline for submissions is July 1, 2021.
As part of its commitment to advancing all women in infosec, the EWF will be hosting a webinar on May 6, 2021, to guide participants through the application process. Hosted by Kelley, the free session will cover proposal best practices. Attendees will learn the inner workings of the selection process for conference speakers, what to expect this year and tips for how to make submissions stand out.
"We value creativity, innovation, and encourage audience interaction," EWF representatives stated. "Each session should provide take-away tools and solutions for attendees to utilize in their everyday roles and responsibilities. Please note: we are open to original topics for consideration."
Organizers noted that panelist submissions are due by June 30, 2021, and applicants will be notified if their submissions have been accepted in mid-July 2021. A complete list of proposed topic descriptions and 2021 guidelines is available at www.ewf-usa.com/ .
