MPC22 event to explore 'currency of change'

Registration is open for MPC: The Digital Commerce Event, to be held Aug. 22 to 24, 2022 at the Westin Atlanta Perimeter North, following two years of virtual conferences. The live conference will bring a diverse cohort of fintech, banking, security and payments industry leaders to Atlanta's Transaction Alley, which is home to numerous leading fintech and financial services brands, event planners noted.

Marla Ellerman, executive director at MPC, thanked sponsors, exhibitors, speakers and attendees for their support over the past 11 years, and noted MPC22's theme is The Currency of Change. Presentations featuring thought leaders and decision-makers in our space will celebrate ever-changing trends, payment flows and the future of digital commerce, she added.

Star-studded line-up

Ellerman shared that numerous industry leaders will take the main stage at MPC22, including Barry C. McCarthy, CEO of Deluxe Corp.; Shane Logsdon, director, product – developer experience at Heartland; Nick Hughes, Head of Growth for GoCart; and more.

Show highlights will include Aite-Novarica's Digital Wallet Awards and MPC's Visionary Award presentations. Led by Peter Gordon, U.S. Bank's head of emerging money movement and business digital officer, U.S. Bank, an MPC diamond sponsor, will co-host a live workshop with Elavon and deliver a keynote address to explore how to build, connect and innovate in the new payments ecosystem. Gordon will also deliver a keynote address on the power of embedded payments. Additional presentations will cover payments, commerce, blockchain, digital currencies, cybersecurity, consumer privacy and customer experience trends.

Agenda highlights

"We've packed a lot of high-quality content, presentations and exclusive networking events into three days," Ellerman said, adding that the show will include daily prize drawings for digital wallets, gift cards and curated social events. Following are additional agenda highlights:

  • Digital assets: U.S. attorney, political adviser and former senior presidential adviser Moe Vela, CEO of MoeVela LLC, will deliver a keynote on digital asset regulations.

  • Future of finance: Trish Cox, head of operations at Galileo, will moderate a panel featuring Michelle Beyo, CEO, Finavator Inc.; Ginger Schmeltzer, strategic advisor, retail banking & payments, Aite-Novarica Group; and Doug Woolridge, vice president, financial services, NA at EPAM Systems.

  • Empowering underserved communities: Damon Kirk, CEO and co-founder of Obsidian Banking will moderate a panel on the power of minority transactions. Panelists slated include Audrey Blackmon, general manager, strategic partnerships at BHG Financial and secretary at Wnet; Rashedia Mayhane, CEO and founder at Greenchips; and Quincy McKnight, CEO at Covenant Pay Partners.

  • Fintech revolution: Barry McCarthy, president and CEO at Deluxe Corp., will deliver a keynote address on the next revolution in fintech.

  • Optimizing mobile payments: Shane Logsdon, director, product management, for Heartland, will share tips on leveraging mobile payments in a keynote presentation.

  • Digital bill payments: Jed Rice, CEO at Aliaswire, will discuss in a keynote session a "secret weapon" for fighting off fintechs: digital bill pay.

  • Disrupting transportation: Atif Siddiqi, CEO at Branch, will discuss next-generation approaches to the freight industry with Luis Silva, vice president, digital partnerships for Mastercard and Jerry Tolochko, strategy and planning at Uber Freight.

  • DeFi payments: Linda Odom, partner at K&L Gates, will discuss the DeFi landscape with Dan Nunez Cohen, senior policy and regulatory counsel at Crypto.com.

  • Consumer journey: In a keynote addresss, Nick Hughes, head of growth at GoCart, will share what consumers hate the most about payments.

  • Future of payments: Nitin Gaur, digital assets and technology design, at State Street Bank, will chat with Russel Moore, director, corporate strategy & development for Global Payments Inc. and Ryan Rugg, partner, head of blockchain for Americas at IBM.

  • Digital payouts:Alex Cooper, senior vice president, sales at Ingo Money Inc. will explore the rise of digital compensation with Laura Menken, head of product for Early Warning/Zelle, and Keith Smith, CEO at Payouts Network.

  • Buy now, pay later: John Stewart, editor for Digital Transactions, will moderate a panel on BNPL featuring Darren Beyer, co-founder and chief product and strategy officer at Qolo, and Ryan Tuttle, senior consultant for Euromonitor International.

  • POS technology: David Lott, payments risk expert, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, will explore the importance of POS with Allen Kopelman, CEO, Nationwide Payment Systems and Heather Mlachnik, senior vice president, acquiring & ISO sales, PAX Technology.

  • Emerging threats: Casey Zenner, vice president, global sales at Kount, an Equifax company, will deliver a keynote address on how fraud always follows the money.

  • Crypto legalities: James Huber, partner at Global Legal Law Firm, will moderate a discussion on legal developments in cryptocurrency with participants Louis Armitage, CEO of Armitage Accounting/Crypto Consultants; Michael Douglas of Global Legal Law Fir;m and Ed Marshall, partner at Arnall Golden Gregory LLP.

  • Identity management: Beyond passwords and PANS, the new frontier of identity management and fraud-free commerce, powered by anonymous biometrics, is the topic of discussion with moderator Marianne Crowe, vice president at Secure Payments, and panelists Christina Hulka, executive director and COO of FIDO Alliance; Deepak Jain, founder and CEO of Wink; and Jeremiah Mason, senior vice president, product management for authID.
