Build, scale internationally with market-leading platform
When founded in 2016, FlipSide B.V., a Dutch company, focused on business development for brands in the toys and sporting goods industries. However, by the end of 2023, FlipSide had switched gears by expanding its leadership team and creating the Global Business Machine (GBM), a software-as-a-service solution designed to help companies scale operations and expand global footprints, according to Jasun Weiner, head of brand relations at FlipSide.
"FlipSide offers a comprehensive solution for international business expansions," Weiner said. "By providing access to markets, a vast service provider network and all relevant sales channels, we serve as a one-stop shop for brands looking to expand globally."
Meet challenges, maintain control
Weiner mentioned that companies selling across borders frequently sacrifice control and profit margins, particularly when dealing with traditional distributors. Challenges may include quality assurance issues, potential conflicts of interest, dependence and communication gaps. Price undercutting, unauthorized sales channels, brand misrepresentation and regulatory changes are also prevalent in foreign markets, he noted, adding that GBM addresses these issues.
"GBM is a comprehensive platform that can help enterprises simplify market access, eliminate tax complexities and ensure supply chain resilience while maintaining control over operations and profits," he said. "The platform addresses critical pain points that companies may face when working with traditional distributors, such as complex tax systems, legal barriers, and logistical challenges."
Weiner stated that FlipSide's GBM is a cost-effective solution that includes no setup costs or service fees and offers incentives such as free initial goods-in receipt and storage.
Experienced leadership
Weiner, who has 20 years of experience in launching consumer products internationally, including his recent role as president of Popsockets, credits FlipSide's success to its visionary leadership team. "Dariush Izadyar, CEO of FlipSide, brings over 15 years of expertise in corporate leadership, sales, marketing and business development, having played pivotal roles in scaling global companies such as PopSockets, SoFlow AG and Street Surfing," he said. "David Rosendo, the chief technology officer of FlipSide, leads the development of cutting-edge software and digital solutions. His comprehensive understanding of consumer products and diverse technologies ensures the seamless integration of SaaS solutions."
Newly appointed Chief Financial Officer Dan Nguyen brings a wealth of experience in corporate development, capital raising and financial management, Weiner stated, noting that Nguyen held senior management roles at various industries and co-founded fintech company Bright Query.
"FlipSide offers a unique opportunity for investors to participate in a seed investment round, laying the groundwork for GBM's future," Nguyen said in a statement. "Our commission-based business model, combined with access to 35 countries, a robust service provider network and all relevant sales channels, positions GBM as a transformative solution for consumer goods brands seeking global success."
Limitless sales channels
Weiner additionally noted that 2024 has been a defining year for FlipSide, which closed a seed investment round in April and is expanding U.S. operations through its partner company, ZLR Distribution Corp. It also has plans to expand into Canada and Mexico by the end of the year. FlipSide provides sales channels in each market, Weiner stated, adding that brands can choose to sell through third-party marketplaces such as Amazon, branded Shopify stores and FlipSide's B2B marketplace that targets small and midsize retailers, key account retailers and sales affiliate channels. As the vendor company for each of these channels, FlipSide provides essential tax and infrastructure that enables brands to transact in 35 countries, Weiner pointed out.
