Free POS system with mobile branding capabilities
During the Electronic Transactions Association 2013 Annual Meeting & Expo in New Orleans, Harbortouch revealed the formation of a strategic alliance to deliver an integrated solution combining Harbortouch's Hospitality POS system, offered free to merchants, with the mobile payment, loyalty and customer management application developed by Tabbedout.
"Harbortouch has changed the landscape of the POS and payment processing industries and Tabbedout is revolutionizing mobile payments and rewards," stated Jared Isaacman, Chief Executive Officer at Harbortouch. "It was only natural for these two innovative companies to come together in an attempt to redefine commerce for brick-and-mortar businesses."
Harbortouch said it plans to deploy the new solution to its current base of hospitality industry clients at 10,000 locations nationwide and will bundle the solution with all future deployments in this sector. Harbortouch added it will continue to offer its all-inclusive Elite POS system free to merchants who sign a payment processing and services agreement with the company.
Tabbedout CEO Alex Broeker said that "integrating with a POS leader like Harbortouch allows thousands of merchants to leverage their existing Harbortouch POS system to offer mobile payment and enables us to expand our solution to a wider network of restaurants, bars and hotels nationwide."
The Tabbedout application encrypts credit and debit card data on the customer's mobile phone, displaying only the last four digits on screen. It also allows customers to open a restaurant tab, view the tab in real-time, and pay or split tabs as needed. Each time a new tab is opened, the app generates a random secret code, which is the only information bartenders or servers need to view, Tabbedout stated.
For Harbortouch Hospitality POS system users, the integration provides access to Periscope, a marketing solution that offers customer analyses, including frequency of visits and purchase history. It also gives merchants the ability to respond instantly to customer feedback while customers are still on site. Merchants can further interact with customers off site by using the system to create and deliver customized mobile marketing campaigns to build brand loyalty.
Through its partnership with Tabbedout, Harbortouch expects to add about 50,000 hospitality locations to its POS program within the next 18 months; the companies have also agreed to collaborate on additional technology development during that time, Isaacman noted.
Features of Harbortouch/Tabbedout POS include:
- Free all-in-one Elite POS system for hospitality industry
- Built-in mobile payment, customer loyalty, marketing features
- Targeted offer capabilities for restaurants, bars and hotels
- Streamlined, secure guest checkout for enhanced customer experience
- Access to Periscope data on customer purchase patterns
