Farewell to Sam Caine
There was an outpouring of emotion in GS Online's MLS Forum in late August in response to the untimely death of Sam Caine. A long-time payments industry leader, Sam was most recently President and Chief Executive Officer of Austin, Texas-based Card Payment Services Inc. He was also a passionate fundraiser and evangelist for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
His contributions to the industry over the years exhibited not only his significant expertise and generosity, but also his unique sense of humor. Many looked up to him as a professional they could always trust, and he will be missed by all those he touched. Our hearts go out to his family and close friends at this time.
Appreciating Jim McCaffrey
We received the following note in response to "GS Remembers: Jim McCaffrey," which we published Aug. 26, 2013, in issue 13:08:02, in honor of our colleague Jim McCaffrey, who passed away Aug. 2:
I think the GS tribute in the Flipbook to Jim McCaffrey was very nice. We need more people like him in this industry. I'm sorry for your loss of such a great guy.

Where are your events listings?
I've noticed you don't always publish your calendar and datebook features in your magazine. I find the listings useful and miss seeing them. Just thought I'd let you know.

While it's true that we don't include our Calendar listings and Datebook write-ups in every issue, we do always have that information available online.
Go to our home page's right-hand column and scroll down a bit. You'll find calendar items listed just below the GSQ Buyers Guide button. Click on Calendar of Events. You'll be directed to a page titled Payments Industry Calendar.
You can view information in Event Listings, Calendar and Datebook formats. The Datebook option typically contains more detail than the other two.
