Taking mobile to new heights
Montreal-based AnywhereCommerce took mobile POS to the next level by introducing a dual-track mag stripe card reader and Europay/MasterCard/Visa (EMV) chip and PIN technology rolled into one device. The Nomad 2.0 mPOS solution weighs about four ounces and has been streamlined to make it lighter and more compact than the original model, the company reported.
Developed in-house by AnywhereCommerce, Nomad 2.0 was designed to make the transition from mag stripe to EMV technology easy for mobile merchants well ahead of the October 2015 deadline mandated by the major card brands. The device features an LCD message display, keypad, secured PIN pad and micro USB port for charging.
Nomad 2.0 has also achieved Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard compliance, EMVCO L1 and L2 certification, and Visa Ready approval. Relying on Bluetooth technology, the device connects with most major smartphone Wi-Fi–enabled devices and tablets on the market, including the latest versions of Android, Blackberry, iOS and Windows. Mobile merchants can process debit, credit, gift and loyalty card transactions using either mag stripe or EMV chip-and-PIN options, according to AnywhereCommerce.
