Speed printing at POS

Mount Laurel, N.J.-based OKI Data Americas Inc., a subsidiary of OKI Data Corp. of Japan, recently introduced the PT340/PT341 Series, its latest desktop POS thermal receipt printer line. According to OKI Data, the output on both models averages 300 millimeters per second, which translates to about 11.8 inches every second, slightly longer than the average sheet of paper.

"The PT340/PT341 Series is the right choice for any checkout environment that requires high performance at an affordable price," said Mark Hernandez, Director of Specialty Products at OKI Data Americas. "With retailers now printing longer, more intensive and sophisticated receipts, these printers deliver at ultra-high print speeds and 203 dpi resolution, making the PT340/PT341 Series the ideal tool for your business or organization."

The multipurpose printers are designed to handle a variety of media types and sizes, including standard-sized rolls for printing receipts, bar codes, coupons, delivery order tickets, even lottery tickets. In addition to a built-in power supply, each has a 576 KB internal memory to store graphics, logos, fonts and various barcodes, including two-dimensional quick response codes, the company noted.

Part of what makes the series highly adaptable is its small footprint and the option to position units to read horizontally or vertically depending on space constraints, according to OKI. Each unit can also be wall mounted. To conceal interface connectors, both models feature a recessed space under the case.

Additional benefits of the PT340/PT341 Series include:

Designed for demanding retail, health care and hospitality work environments, each system is backed by OKI's two-year Advanced Overnight Exchange warranty to ensure restoration of printing functions the next business day should anything happen to the printer. OKI added that in addition to around the clock toll-free technical support, the company also provides live chat online support weekdays during business hours in the Eastern time zone for U.S. and Canadian customers.
