Enterprise-grade tablet
According to the latest research, adoption of electronic tablets in the hospitality and retail sectors is expected to grow annually at a rate of 30 percent over the next three years. To meet market demand ParTech Inc., a subsidiary of PAR Technology Corp., introduced the PAR Tablet 8.

One of its primary features is that it's based on the Intel Atom processor technology. "The smartback technology provides a platform with versatility for different payment options such as EMV [Europay/MasterCard/Visa] and mag stripe, as well as supporting bar code and RFID [radio frequency identification] reading for inventory management, product look up and customer support," said Michelle Tinsley, Director of Mobility and Secure Payment Solutions, Retail Solutions Division, Intel Corp.

With Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry, this tablet is designed to functionally extend the Windows user experience for business enterprises. "We believe that PAR's customers will appreciate being able to ensure their devices are optimized for the enterprise-wide intelligent systems, allowing them to get business-critical information to the right people at the right time," said David Wurster, Group Product Manager, Windows Embedded at Microsoft Corp.
According to ParTech, the tablet is available in 48 countries, and several payment accessories will be launched in the third quarter of 2014. The company offers comprehensive support and service options for the tablet, as well as software partner support through its network of independent software vendors.
