If you don't have a password, it can't be stolen

Technology company Sekur.me Inc. has created what it touts as the future of authentication on mobile and e-commerce applications. Sekur.me's patented technology delivers multifactor authentication with a smartphone while eliminating the need for user IDs and passwords, the company said.

Jack Bicer, known in the computing world for inventing the "uninstall" and "automatic software updates" tools, noted that secure products in the mobile space frequently require extra steps to authenticate, while less secure products are generally easier to use. He devised the Sekur.me app, Sekur Login, to combine strong security with ease-of-use.

"If you want to be secure, eliminate passwords, because if you don't have a password, it can't be stolen," Bicer said. "You can eliminate both passwords and user IDs by turning your phone into your digital identity. The Sekur Login verifies what it knows about you plus the uniqueness of the hardware of your phone with 100 percent accuracy at 100 percent of the time. And the whole process happens in about one second."

For regular web login, Sekur.me-optimized sites present the user a quick response (QR) code during the login process. The user scans the QR code using the Sekur.me app on the smartphone and logs in. Neither user IDs nor passwords are used. A PIN or a fingerprint is used to launch the Sekur.me app. This login process works the same way on every Sekur.me optimized website, the company stated.

For mobile web logins, the user clicks on the Sekur login button, enters his or her PIN or fingerprint and logs in within a second. Sekur.me provides two-factor authentication on a single mobile device, without requiring additional hardware – an industry first, Sekur.me noted.

No two phones are the same; all have unique hardware differences. Sekur.me's patented technology (FonePrint) uses these differences in combination with PIN and biometrics for secure authentication.

The company also said its app renders keyboard loggers useless, a malware that is so successful in stealing passwords that 230 new versions are released every day. "If Target had used Sekur.me, they would have avoided the data breach," Bicer said. A video demonstrating Sekur Login can be seen at http://video.sekur.me/login.End of Story
