End-to-end, omnichannel payment platform

Worldpay US Inc. launched Worldpay Total, an omnichannel payment platform designed to integrate transactions across POS, mobile and ecommerce channels. The single-access, end-to-end payment processing solution was introduced to U.K. retailers in 2014, where it tested well at World Duty Free, Twickenham Station and other high-profile brands, the company stated.

As consumers increasingly transact on connected devices, merchants and independent software vendors (ISVs) need a simple, secure way to provide a connected customer experience across multiple technologies and sales channels. "Worldpay Total solves for this, saving ISVs and merchants time and money: one provider, one integration across sales channels and one expert support team," said Sarah Arvin, Worldpay US Chief Product and Marketing Officer.

Mark Bergner, Director, Product Strategy at Worldpay, added, "The consumer is the new POS. They're a walking, mobile POS channel, carrying their phones in their pockets 24/7, creating revenue opportunities for any company that can capture that audience."

User-friendly developer center

Worldpay Total's developer center contains language-agnostic application programming interfaces (APIs) and software development kits (SDKs) for Windows, iOS and Android operating systems. Its secure sandbox environment enables software developers and integrators to write, test and certify applications.

The developer portal provides programmers with software libraries, documentation, support services and a choice of the company's REST API or Integrated Payments Clients SDK environments.

IPC SDK is designed to be used in conjunction with Worldpay's expanding list of certified peripheral payment card readers. Its pre-certified payments clients enable chip card acceptance while eliminating the need to certify EMV (Europay, Mastercard and Visa) solutions and keeping Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) data out of retailers' scope. A flexible payments hub simplifies and expedites adding new features and services as payment needs evolve. The IPC toolset is ideal for developers working with native code libraries for mobile devices.

REST API is designed for developers and retailers working with unsupported peripheral payment card readers or device-free platforms. Programmers can use a direct REST API or prepackaged SDK to run card-present or card-not-present and recurring billing transactions. These simplified, language-agnostic development environments are ideally designed for non-native, standalone applications.

Tailored, secure applications

Worldpay Total provides a mobile-based, integrated platform aimed at simplifying payment integrations across all payment channels. Worldpay integration experts are available to assist developers and merchants in creating applications that address their unique requirements and simplify PCI compliance, the company stated.

"The virtual terminal has become more sophisticated because of EMV," Bergner said. "It is no longer just browser-based, but a device-driven, virtual solution that can interact with EMV schemes while offering a robust, secure, PA [Payment Application] DSS compliant solution for merchants."

The company noted the platform's additional security features as follows:

According to Worldpay, with a single access view across multiple channels, Worldpay Total can simplify transaction processing, providing software and API libraries that facilitate quick boarding and simplified integration. End of Story
