High-tech POS platform empowers merchants, ISOs

PAX Technology Inc., a global provider of electronic payment solutions, created the E700, a comprehensive POS solution for small and midsize merchants. With dual-facing touchscreen displays and intuitive interface, the E700 adapts to numerous retail and hospitality settings, including restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, specialty stores, cinemas and entertainment theme parks, company representatives stated.

"The E700 is both a platform and product," said Patty Walters, senior vice president, security and services at PAX. "Within this dual-capable device, there's a merchant business center and robust app marketplace. We've made the hardware secure while providing all of Android's benefits."

Merchants can interface with other Android-based apps on the E700 platform, Walters added, improving their experience and solidifying their relationships with processors and ISOs. "For the very first time, service providers can remotely diagnose and resolve any merchant challenges, using a secure messaging feature to communicate directly through the terminal," she said.

Leading-edge technology

Calling the E700 an important leap from small Android terminals, Walters said, "We've brought leading-edge security, technology and customer engagement to small and midsize merchants."

Dual-facing displays, popular with big-box retailers, can enhance visibility for merchants and consumers, reducing the need for a swivel-stand or base. The merchant-facing display, with Android-based functions, is viewable from every angle. The customer-facing display supports secure PIN and card entry.

The E700's capacitive screen has an automatic brightness feature designed to improve viewing. A hybrid card reader supports traditional and alternative payment methods, using multilayered security to facilitate fast, secure transactions, Walters stated. The device has dual built-in cameras and a fingerprint reader. Its high-speed printer with built-in paper cutter can print receipts at 150 millimeters per second.

#h2Feature-rich functionality The E700 leverages PAXBiz, a customized version of Android that includes PAXStore, an open software distribution platform with cloud-based estate tools and a global app marketplace. The company noted that the platform enables service providers to offer multiple services, including:

"At PAX, our philosophy is simple: merchants should not be required to push buttons to make changes or resolve issues," Walters said. "Whether merchants are small business owners or multilocation enterprises, PAX E700 channel partners and service providers can give them the support they need to stay connected and processing."
