Many
ISOs are purchasing new business lists, and some have actually focused
their sales efforts on new business clients.
Currently
in the United States, 10,200,000 people, or about one out of every twelve
in the work force, have started their own business. However, at least 65%
of all new businesses fail within their first five years of operation.
This means that more than one out of every two new businesses will fail.
Now,
before I depress all of you who own your own business as Independent Sales
Professionals, let us look at some of the good news. First, regardless of
how high the business failures may actually be, and some argue these
numbers are actually worse, they do provide a steady supply of new
prospects who will need bankcard and check services, as well as point-of-sale
equipment.
This
is only part of the good news. Since only 25% of businesses fail in any
given year, they have a 75% chance of success. The longer you survive, the
greater the odds of survival.
