CrossCheck,
Inc., announced an agreement to provide their services to Exactly
Vertical, an online supplier of vertically tailored small business
management solutions. Exactly Vertical, headquartered in San Francisco,
CA, will use CrossCheck’s patent-pending Internet check payment
service, ChecksByNet, as one of their primary payment options both in
their desktop software and on their market-specific Web sites such as
www.exactphoto.com.
CrossCheck’s
ChecksByNet is an Internet payment solution that enables a merchant to
accept checks via the Internet. ChecksByNet is aimed at commerce-enabled
Web sites and provides a check payment settlement mechanism. When making a
purchase online the consumer enters the check information, which is
transmitted to CrossCheck for check approval. The approval is sent back
via the Internet to both the consumer and merchant. The merchant can
access CrossCheck through the Internet and checks are printed real-time on
the merchant-local printer. CrossCheck introduced ChecksByNet in 1997.
Exactly
Vertical develops and distributes software that integrates market-specific
business management tools and purchasing capabilities. They offer these
solutions to aid small businesses by giving them the purchasing power of
large competitors.
Ridgely
Evers, co-founder, President, and CEO of Exactly Vertical, spent five
years at Intuit, where he was the father of QuickBooks, the market-leading
small business accounting software program. Ridgely was also one of the
drivers of Intuit’s first strategic plan, and was Group Product Manager
for Online Business Services. Following Intuit, he served as VP of
Marketing, then CEO of CoSite (high-end Web hosting), and led a turn-around
effort as CEO of Inquisit, a venture-backed online news service.
“We
are excited to provide our services to Exactly Vertical. They are
committed to small business solutions and we think our Internet products
are a great compliment to their program,” stated J. David Siembieda,
CrossCheck’s EVP of Sales and Marketing. “A check payment option is
necessary to accommodate business-to-business e-commerce. With ChecksByNet,
Exactly Vertical will be able to offer their customers the convenience of
writing a check online, safely and securely.”
“Our
research has consistently shown that small businesspeople often prefer to
pay via a business check, rather than using their personal credit card,”
said Evers. “With ChecksByNet, we’re able to meet that need in a
flexible, intuitive, customer-friendly manner.”
CrossCheck,
Inc., was founded in 1983 and provides payment approval, patent-pending
Internet services, and transaction processing to more than 29,000
merchants across the country. They are the largest privately held payment
guarantee company in the nation and handled over $6.5 billion in guarantee
transactions in 1999. For more information, visit their Web site at http://www.cross-check.com/.
