A
s
many Green
Sheet readers
know, EBT transactions can be processed through one of five processors:
Concord /BUYPASS, First Data Merchant Services, NPC, Vital Processing
Services, or PayPoint Electronic Payment Systems.
What
some readers might not realize is that the list changed as Preferred
Merchant Services unveiled its EBT processing program this January.
The
company recently finished their certification with the Deluxe Gateway to
be an EBT processor and went live with EBT credit and debit in January. At
that time, they started taking on ISOs and are in direct competition with
the above mentioned processors.
We
asked Craig Tims of PMS why someone should choose Preferred over some of
the other processors. Craig told us “We will be using an IBM/400-based
solution so we are able to be very flexible.” Craig also said that
Preferred has the ability to process with both NCR and IBM scanning
systems. Additionally, processing EBT through Preferred will allow for
surcharging on cash back transactions.
