To The Green
Sheet:
Thank you for the
excellent industry review in the February edition of GSQ.
The merchant business is as robust as ever and the opportunities that
exist for ISOs are great. In regard to the information concerning my
company, Electronic Data Resources, there is some misleading information
that should be clarified for your readers. Specifically, we specialize in
retail, restaurant, hospitality, some home-based businesses, and flea
markets. We do not solicit or underwrite high-risk merchants including
MO/TO, Internet, gambling, and adult entertainment. We enjoy a single
processing relationship with NPC/NCB and do not offer multiple bank
relationships.
Please make these
necessary changes to your database for further reference and publications.
Sincerely,
Bill B. Blakey

I’m glad you
found the “Feet on the Street” GSQ to be worthwhile. I want to thank your
organization for participating.
We
will publish this letter in order to clarify your data for our readership.

Green
Hello Paul:
Would you consider
asking some of the larger sales organizations that have a strong focus on
Internet merchants and e-commerce how free payment providers are affecting
their business?
Companies like
ibill have been around a while and are something we just have to deal
with. However, when the processing volume of a merchant using their
services reaches a certain point, it makes no sense to stay with a company
like that—just costs too much. So, traditionally they get their own
merchant account from somebody.
However, in
January a new payment system exploded online. These services offer to
handle credit card payments for sellers and buyers and don’t charge
anything—no equipment or software to buy, no setup fees, no transaction
fees, no discount rate fees, no minimums, and no statement fees. Nothing.
Companies like X.com and PayPal.com are a couple that come to mind that
offer this payment processing. I guess they make their money on the float.
I am just a small
guy on the Net who has been setting up Internet merchant accounts since
1997 and I have felt the impact. I am curious how other sales
organizations are faring.
I would like to
see some overcoming methods discussed. I sure would like to see a upcoming
issue of The Green Sheet discuss this fully.
Thanks,
Todd Sumrall

Hi Paul:
Outstanding work
on this month’s GSQ . . .
really informative and your conclusions on where the ISO industry is
headed are on target. Keep up the good work.
Thanks,

Ron:
Thanks
for the kind words. It is nice to hear from someone who has lived the
“Feet on the Street” experience, and with whom the information plays
true.
