Data Resources Inc., has been in the process of right-sizing the company
(which if you are on the wrong side of right-sizing is downsizing to you).
The company has eliminated 400 jobs over the last few months in an effort
to reduce expenses and streamline operations. The company noted at the end
of February that 280 salaried employees and 45 hourly workers lost their
jobs; the jobs of 105 other employees were eliminated in January.
The
cuts came after First Data executives decided the company had duplicative
jobs, mismatched priorities, and too many managers, noted spokeswoman
Nancy Etheredge. “It impacted all areas and all levels,’’ said
Etheredge.
“This
action basically right-sizes our company,’’ she said. “Our business
is very competitive, and we need to look for more and better ways to be
more efficient so we can continue to grow and reduce operating
costs.’’
