Acquires ABI
DPI
Merchant Services (DPI) recently acquired American Bankcard International 2000,
Inc., (ABI). DPI, one of the nation’s largest privately owned processors,
acquired ABI to provide traditional “brick and mortar” retail merchants with
its proprietary payment solutions, including e-commerce services, DPISecure and USMerchant.com.
Robert Troyer, CEOP and
President of DPI said, “We are very excited about the ABI acquisition because
it represents our first initiative outside the direct marketing industry.”
Dan Wolfe, President of ABI,
will continue to manage the 50 employees of ABI and has been appointed as a
director on DPI’s board. With the purchase of ABI, DPI acquires 3500 retail
merchant accounts and sales offices in Houston, Tempe, Phoenix, Denver and San
Diego. DPI estimates that its portfolio will exceed 10,000 merchant accounts
with processing volume of 1.1 billion by the end of 2001.
“Structurally, we will keep
our retail and direct marketing division separate so as to not lose focus on the
different payment processing solutions needed to service both the retail and
direct marketing industries, said Troyer.
