A Sure
Thing
XpressCheX,
Inc., a wholly-owned check processing subsidiary of Electronic Clearing House
(ECHO), has formed an agreement with SureFire Commerce, Inc., to offer check
processing services. SureFire is a global provider of secure online transaction
processing services and online merchant e-commerce solutions.
SureFire will offer check
verification and electronic processing of online checks to its U.S. merchants.
The check transaction will be routed via a secure connection from the
merchant’s Web site to Rocky Mountain Retail Systems (RMRS), an ECHO
subsidiary in Boulder, CO. At RMRS the check writer’s account information will
be verified through ECHO’s National Check Information Services (NCIS)
database. Transactions that pass the NCIS verification will be captured at RMRS
and routed to XpressCheX to perform the electronic submission and online
tracking of the transactions through the Federal Reserve’s ACH for settlement.
“SureFire Commerce is the first large payment processor to offer Internet
checks as a payment option,” said Arnold Feinberg, Vice President of RMRS.
