eGems
Honored with Codie Nomination and 4-Star
Rating
Gemteq
Software, Inc., producer of the eGems Collector suite of electronic research and
reference applications, was named a finalist among 750 entries for the
prestigious 2001 Codie Awards, sponsored by the Software & Information
Industry Association (SIIA). The Codie Awards showcase the industry’s finest
products and honor excellence in the software and information industry; eGems
Collector Pro was named a finalist in the category of Best Reference Tool.
“The
SIIA’s Codie Awards represent peer recognition of excellence within the
software community,” said Ashwin Gulati, President of Gemteq. “We are
extremely pleased the eGems collector Pro has been recognized by the Software
Information Industry Association.”
The 196
Codie Awards finalists within 39 categories represent the work of 135 companies,
from emerging start-ups to traditional industry powerhouses. Ken Wasch, SIIA
president, pointed out that, “The Codie Awards represent peer recognition of
excellence. For 16 years, only one awards program has called upon the companies
driving the digital economy to reward the best of the best.”
Additionally,
PC Magazine recently reviewed eGems Collector Pro and gave it a four star rating
stating, “Bookmarks will get you only so far; if the page you were reading has
been removed or changed, you’ve lost the data you wanted. And if you’ve ever
saved whole Web pages to folders on your PC, you know how much of a mess
management becomes over time. eGems simplifies this by letting you store nuggets
of information, called gems, in treasure chests and trays.”
Last
year Green Sheet subscribers received a copy of the eGems software, compliments
of The Green Sheet. As those who’ve used the software know, eGems Collector
Pro is a powerful electronic research companion, enabling users to conduct and
organize electronic research. Users simply drag-and-drop research “gems”
from electronic sources, simultaneously organizing the gems into personal
digital libraries, while automatically keeping source data intact. The PC
Magazine review stated, “eGems makes excellent use of drag-and-drop to speed
you along in saving information. The great thing about this is that the software
automatically does some of the data input grunt work for you.”
Research
gems can then be incorporated into users’ work, and the user can
instantaneously regenerate source material for appropriately formatted footnotes
or bibliographies.” The simple, intuitive eGems interface takes just a few
minutes to master,” stated the PC Week review. The review concluded,
“Finding the information you want is only half the battle. Organizing and
incorporating it into your work are the other half, and eGems goes a long way
toward helping you accomplish that goal. The 30-day free trial is definitely
worth the download.”
Codie
Award winners will be announced on March 12, 2001, at a black-tie event during
