A Thing New Kid on the Block

New Kid on the Block

There’s a new ISO on the block. As is usually the case with our industry, the name is different, but the players are the same. Merchant First Bankcard has been launched with a senior management team that, together, has more than 100 years of bankcard experience.

Some of our readers may know Alan Gitles, who will serve at the new CEO of Merchant First. Gitles is the former CEO of American National Bankcard, which was sold two years ago. Gitles plans to incorporate one of his foundation policies into Merchant First by ensuring the company has experienced telemarketing professionals who will generate highly qualified leads for all of its ISOs.

The new ISO provides processing credit, debit, e-commerce and check guarantee services to retail, restaurant, mail/telephone order, wholesale, start-up, home-based and e-commerce businesses. Merchant First Bankcard will use CrossCheck’s check guarantee services to increase profitability for a business by making check acceptance “worry-free” for the merchant and fast and convenient for the consumer. Special programs to enable COD check acceptance, multiple-check payment and Internet and phone checks may be included with the guarantee service, as well.

“CrossCheck and Merchant First are a great fit,” stated Alan Gitles. “Combining our state-of-the-art services with CrossCheck’s guarantee provides our merchants with the best payment program out there. In addition, we employ a highly qualified telephone sales staff to provide our ISOs with quality leads.”

First Data Merchant Services will provide Merchant First Bankcard with core accounting, front-end authorization processing, settlement, and selected back office merchant processing services. Under this agreement, the companies expect to bring in more than 50,000 new accounts.

Merchant First Bankcard is headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois and provides payment services, including check guarantee and bankcard processing, to virtual and retail merchants throughout North America.
