A Thing Web Guide
Web Guide

More Web marketing data, for those of you that are beginning to make money as ISP's (Internet Service Providers). We are hearing virtually the same information throughout the country, as it relates to the opportunity to make money selling Web Page design and Hosting services. Virtually everyone you talk to is considering or has considered a Web Page for their business.
Most businesses are not sure why they want a Web Page, what it is going to do for their business, or even what they want it to look like, but they are sure that it is something they should have. This sales opportunity, which by the way it reminiscent of Point-of-Sale terminal sales in the early 80's, is very exciting for those who can smell the money that can be made, but as noted in the last "The Green Sheet", finding someone to do the design work is much more difficult than finding someone to host the Page. This is of course why some of you are beginning to find ways to do more of this work yourselves, so that you can provide reliable results from your sales efforts, and also to protect your other sales income streams, i.e. Bankcard, Check Guarantee, and Equipment from unhappy Internet service time frames or work quality. While we are aware that most of you have no more desire to create this product than you have in being a bankcard processor, terminal manufacturer, or standing the risk of Bad Checks, we provide the following information for those who ARE heading down this course.

Cut & Paste HTML

If you are having trouble find someone to help you with page design, and you are not a programmer, but have basic intermediate PC skills, or can hire someone who does, the following could be some help to your efforts. A Web Page exists on the Internet that will help you to design Web Pages using Cut and Past HTML code. Assuming that you can have a text editor and browser open simultaneously on your PC, and that you have a clipboard capability (OLE 2), you can easily copy and paste your way to an attractive home page with a minimum of labor. Just slam in some lines, ordered lists, different font sizes and links with a few control keys and viola! You can find this as follows:

http://www.teleport.com/~blay/html.html Once you have produced your first Web Page for a customer, don't forget that you need to "publish" to the world that their Web Page exists. We have a way for you to do this for yourself as well. The Postmaster, is a nicely designed announcement service that will post a notice, gratis (free), about your new Web Site on over 20 popular "What's New" indexes. For a fee, The Postmaster, will post your page on over 100 of the most popular sites and publications on the net. The Postmaster is at: http://www.netcreations.com/postmaster/
Finally, if you are good at content, or your customer will provide the content, but you are straining for design ideas, then you should check out the "The Advertising Graveyard". Put up by disgruntled ad men who have had brilliant ads killed off by scared clients or balky agencies. This library of slaughtered ads had us giggling helplessly. It can be found at: http://www.inch.com/~jeffz/ad.html
Don't forget that you can check anything you create by contacting: HTML Validation service: http://www.halsoft.com/html-val-svc/
