Electronic Banking and Web Futures
It is estimated that 9-10 percent of U.S. households will be on-line with their Personal computers by Mid 1996, and hundreds of banks have gone on-line as well for banking services. While this is thought by some to be a significant future for banking, clearly the future is not as yet here.
According to a freshly published survey by the American Bankers Association, "Retail Banking Survey Report 1995", nearly half of the large banks surveyed are operating their Electronic Banking services at a loss, and 29% of them are not sure about profitability,1 with the results from smaller banks being similar in response.
