Sign On The Dotted Line
In our 05:02 issue we published a story on Visa Chargebacks and
the reasons for them. One of those reasons was lack of signature.
Well, PenWare Inc. of Sunnyvale, California has just released a
low-cost signature transaction terminal, the PenWare1500, that may
all but eliminate the of lack of signature problem.
The PenWare1500 allows merchants to electronically store and track
customer signatures in credit transactions. This tracking can
eliminate chargebacks and reduce the cost and waste associated with
paper receipts. To compare the signature to that on the card,
merchants can view the electronic signature on their terminal or on
the optional PenWare120 auxiliary display.
With the
PenWare1500, customers view their signatures as they sign the highly
visible LCD screen, mirroring the pen and paper experience.
"We understand that different retailers have tailored needs for
their POS solution. The PenWare1500 provides an affordable, effective
signature transaction solution regardless of the size of retail
operation," stated Aziz Valliani, President of MobiNetix Systems,
Inc. the parent company of PenWare.
The unit retails for $275 and can integrate with any POS system
with a mag stripe reader and MS platform. The PenWare connects
directly to all POS systems or to an existing debit terminal. For
more information about other PenWare transaction terminals, visit the
web site at http://www.penware.com or call toll-free
