Spam
No, we're not talking about the mystery meat with the cult
following. We're talking about spam, the verb.
TO
SPAM is to send unsolicited e-mail to someone who doesn't want
it. Now there are legal spamming rules, if only in the Silver State.
The Nevada State legislature has approved the first SPAM law that
requires mass e-mailers to provide a way for recipients to remove
themselves from the list. But, the law has no ramifications if
violated.
According to the attorney who helped draft the anti-spam bill and
the Coalition Against Unsolicited Commercial E-mail, violation of the
law carries no penalty because lobbying by the Direct Marketing
Association weakened the bill. (Don't ya just love the free
enterprise system?)
