Pass Go
Everyday we get closer and closer to "The Jetsons." We already
have video telephones and pills for food. Now with the new "Go Card,"
we're able to pay our transit fare by just hopping on the train or
subway.
You may be thinking, "Big deal. We already have prepaid cards for
phones, cafeterias, etc." But, this card is different; it does not
need to be swiped, keyed, or inserted.
The "Go Card" from Cubic Corporation uses FRAM technology
developed by Ramtron International. "Go Card" emits a radio wave
which activates a memory chip and deducts money from the card.
Eventually, we could jump on the bus, subway, or train and be off,
without ever taking the card out of our pocket!
What's next? Flying cars?
