Letters to the Editor
Mr. Green:
Do Massachusetts' financial institutions use NCP Check services to
verify an individual's credit worthiness?
If so, how long do the verifications stay on the record? How does
a consumer remove previous "bad" credit problems?
Thank you in advance,
Reggie Hahn
Reggie:
To my knowledge NCP, like TeleCheck, provides access to the
negative check writing history of a consumer for a fee. History may
be legally maintained for seven years.
If you are on NCP's negative file, you should contact them
about clearing the record.

Mr. Green:
I am looking for a position in this field and I have received
information from Associated Check Protection Services. Do you have
any information about this company or is there anything you could
tell me about them? They reportedly pay merchants 90% of a check, no
monthly fees or up-front costs, and $40 in commission for each
account established. I would really appreciate any insights you may
have into this company.
Thanks,
Vernon
Vernon:
I am sorry to say that we have never heard of Associated Check
Protection Services. The pricing approach seems to be a collection
type pricing formula, which also may mean that they are focused on
small ticket sizes to make the pricing work.
Sorry we can't help. A number of organizations are paying
higher sales commission, perhaps you should look around. I'd suggest
you check with some of the companies listed in our Resource Guide.

To The Green Sheet:
I am really interested in obtaining more information on "How to
Evaluate Customer Satisfaction." Issue 97:09:02 references an on-line
site. I have tried several different times to pull this site up and
keep getting the same message that it can't be found.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott Wagner
Scott:
We have found that the URL for this site changes often. For the
past two days the following URL has worked to link to the handbook,
it is case sensitive:
http://www.llnl.gov/PBM/handbook/handbook2.html
The letters following www are LLNL lowercase.
