If you are looking for some sales reading that will really get your heart pumping, then I recommend Walk Like a Giant, Sell Like a Madman by Ralph R. Roberts with John T. Gallagher. (HarperBusiness, 288 pages, $25.)

"Salespeople," says Roberts, "need an almost magical blend of planning, innovation, street smarts, and dedication." He ought to know. This past year, Roberts sold 600 houses in an industry where the average realtor typically sells seven or eight annually. He unabashedly admits he sold a house at his own wedding and another at his grandmother's funeral.
