Datacapping
Datacapping
If you attended The
Green Sheet seminar in Chicago on March 5, you are already familiar
with Datacap's Electronic Cash & Credit Register (ECCR), but how
much do you really know about the PayMATE 1000? Read on to find
out.
Datacap set out to make
a cash register that is similar to a POS terminal. Their goal was to
make a unit small, sleek, and similar in look to a dial terminal so
ISOs would feel comfortable selling it. That's also why The PayMATE
1000 is self-contained and handles cash, credit, debit, and check
transactions, while also obtaining authorizations and settling
batches. The ECCR also has a peripheral port so check and smart card
readers can be added if necessary.
ISOs
Datacap has directly
targeted the bank/ISO sales channel for the PayMATE 1000. From
processors, Datacap was learning that 40% to 50% of processed
transactions come from integrated platforms such as cash registers
and PCs. Datacap created the PayMATE 1000 so that ISOs have something
to sell that doesn't require integration.
Merchants
While the PayMATE 1000
was created with ISOs in mind, there are obvious benefits to
merchants. Two items that are key for merchants are the batch total
and memory pack. Since the system is self-contained, batch totals
always equal register totals. The journal printer also processes a
detailed back-up of each transaction which is also stored in the
battery protected memory.
Which brings us to the
customer-removable memory pack. This pack contains all the
programming, parameters, totals, and batch information for the ECCR.
If the register fails, the replacement terminal arrives and the
memory pack is inserted in the new unit. No downloads, set up, or
re-keying is necessary.
Other features of the
PayMate 1000 ECCR include:
* 12
departments
* 5 preset department
keys
* 100 price lookups
(PLU)
* 24 present PLU
keys
* Calculation of sales
tax, discount, and tax exemptions
* Tip capture for
restaurants
* Personalized receipts
with store message
* Hourly management
reports
* Small
footprint
- Optional customer
display and debit pin pad
The PayMATE 1000 also
incorporates DataTran, which is Datcap's processing system. That
means merchants have access to all major network processors, a built
in PIN pad, direct interface with ISDN and cellular communications,
password protection, and downloadable upgrades.
