Surf's
Up!
A recent report by
market research firm Odyssey, states that seven million homes (30
percent of homes "surfin' the net") have purchased something on line
in the last six months. That's about twice as much as
1996.
Fifty-five percent of
those surveyed accessed the Net for research before making the
traditional purchase. Also, 41 percent of respondents reported that
their decision was directly affected by something they learned
on-line.
"It's clear that 1997
was the year that millions of Americans tried buying something on the
Internet and most realized that nothing bad happened; their credit
card wasn't stolen, their merchandise showed up, and it was pretty
easy, so they went back for more," said Nick Donatiello, President of
Odyssey.
So, consumers are using
the Web and the numbers prove it. Will you be one to get caught up in
the profit?
