Letters
to the Editor
Paul,
Can you help me locate
NetStar Corporation? We have their RCK/Truncation software loaded on
our system, but now we can't get them at any of the Tennessee numbers
we have. Can you shed any light on this issue? Also, can you point me
to other RCK/Truncation processors?
Thanks,
Ron
Dear Ron,
NetStar lost its ODFI
(Originating Depository Financial Institution) and is no longer in
business. This is the first Electronic Check Conversion (ECC)
failure, but is not likely to be the last. RCK and ECC acquiring are
risky for the ODFI and for ISOs.

Paul,
Just a note to say
thanks for the personal attention you give to all the questions and
comments you get. I want you to know that's pretty
impressive.
You intrinsically
understand that we, in the trenches, need support and you supply that
in spades. But, you may not realize what you also do by coaching,
cajoling, critiquing, and even kibitzing, is something even more
valuable. You are providing leadership, true leadership, and that
puts you into a unique and miniscule category: entrepreneurs who give
back more than they get.
You are demonstrating
through your dedication and diligence how we should serve our
customers and the payoff in customer loyalty and appreciation that
will come as a result.
Keep up the
ggrrreaatt!!! work
Thanks
Much!
Ron Eason
P.S. Can you jot down
the names of a few other ECP vendors that I can check out? I still
haven't made any headway with ChequeMark and the TeleCheck model
doesn't look very marketable in its current form (see... I do read
you!)
Hello:
Maybe you can help us.
We are looking to become ISOs of Cardservice International but they
have an advanced equipment requirement. We think we have a better
source for equipment. Can you lead us to companies who are looking
for ISOs?

Dear
Richard:
On our Web site at
http://the.greensheet.com, we have The Resource Guide on-line with a
listing of "Banks looking for Agents," as well as "ISOs looking for
Agents." These lists include names, phone number, e-mail, and Web
links, where available.

Paul:
Can you tell me how the
four leading POS terminal reseller/refurbisher companies (AMS, TASQ,
CDE, and Horizon) differentiate from one another in the type of
services they offer? Also,
1. Who are their
customers?
2. From whom do they buy
back terminals?
3. To whom do they
deploy new/refurbished terminals?
4. How much (US$) can
the customer save by buying a refurbished terminal versus a new
terminal? (Do you have any statistical data
available?)
5. Can you walk me
through a typical "procurement process?" What's
involved?
I'm trying to get
background information regarding POS terminal resellers for business
research. I'd appreciate any leads you can provide me.
Thank
you,
Iris Choi
Dear
Iris:
I believe I have exactly
what you need. We will mail you the February 1998 issue of GSQ
