Get the
Most From Your Work Day
Are you all
over the place in your workday? Do you start one project, then move
to the next, never tying anything up? Or, are you just the opposite?
Do you stay with one task and see it through to the end, even if it
conflicts with other projects?
Obviously,
neither of these scenarios is ideal. Both work habits can interfere
with your responsibilities and your ability to meet deadlines. Try
the following tricks to help you get the most out of your
workday.
Each morning,
before you delve into your tasks, decide what projects you're going
to work on. Plan the order in which you will attack them and make
sure you have all the names, phone numbers, back up, and supplies
necessary.
As you work,
focus on what you're doing RIGHT NOW. If you've organized your tasks
effectively, you won't be interrupted by deadlines for other
projects.
Learn to
recognize when you've completed all you can on a particular project.
It may not be finished, but that's OK. Put it away and insert it in
your list when you think you will be able to accomplish more on
it.
So, take the
time you need in the morning, even if it means getting to work a
little early or letting voice mail catch the phones. Just a few
minutes can decide if you have a good day or a bad one, if you make
deadlines or miss them, and if you have closed sales or closed
doors.
Good
Selling!
