Bull's Crypto
Builder is now available in the U.S. Crypto Builder is a tool that
allows PC users to create their own custom smart card applications
using cryptographic functions in a Microsoft Windows
environment.
Never heard of
Bull? They have offices in more than 85 countries and in 1997 their
revenues were more than $4.2 billion. Bull designs, develops and
markets cards, readers, EFT/POS terminals, ATMs, and associated
software. BullSoft, Bull's worldwide software division, and Bull's
North/South America operations are headquartered in Massachusetts.
Since inventing the microprocessor smart card in 1976, Bull has
received certification for smart card security that is the highest
level ever achieved by a smart card.
Crypto Builder
includes examples that make it easy for users to build and validate
their own scenarios. Bull is also targeting VARs who will use Crypto
Builder to develop specific solutions for use in e-commerce and
electronic mail. Crypto Builder can be used to develop applications
dedicated to specific areas, including the following:
- Identification:
secures access to Internet, Intranet and Extranet networks and
protects sensitive information.
- Transportation:
stores information such as ticket type, date of validity, and
destination.
- Education:
protects course content in remote learning
environments.

Crypto Builder
comes with five customized cards and two smart card readers designed
to plug-and-play in the Microsoft 95, 98 and Windows 2000
environments. A CD-ROM containing the documentation and development
tools is also included. The product retails for approximately $799.
