Ice Warming
Up
In the May issue
of GSQ, we told you about Hypercomís newest terminal, the ICE
5000.
The ICE 5000 has a
touch screen, high-speed printer, paper cutter, and FastPOS 9600 bps
modem. The terminal processes credit and debit as well as smart card
and loyalty management programs. When used in conjunction with the
Hypercom Ascendant Server Environment, the ICE 500 also supports
online advertising and electronic signature and receipt capture,
storage, and retrieval.
We apparently are
not the only ones impressed by this new design and direction for
Hypercom. Hypercomís ICE 5000 terminal was nominated as of one
the yearís "Most Innovative Products" at the Smart Card
ë99 convention. The Most Innovative Products award recognizes
products developed in the past 12 months that have helped advance the
smart card industry.
Since our May GSQ,
Concord EFS has purchased more than 30,000 of the terminals, along
with Hypercomís Ascendent SigCap software system. The new
system will allow Concord to provide an electronic signature capture
and retrieval solution and includes POS devices, networking
equipment, and centralized transaction processing.
"Bringing
signature capture to the small- to medium-sized retailers is a giant
leap in the transaction processing industry," said Edward A. Labry,
Concord EFS president.
Concord EFS
