Advanced
Printing Available
I know that many
more ISOs these days are working on large chain businesses and other
organizations which have more advanced equipment and electronic cash
registers. For those of you who fit this category, you will be happy
to know that Epson has expanded its line of Connect-It printer
interfaces to offer IBM POS system users electronic journal
capability.
The new Connect-It
P7EJ interface option is available on most of Epson's TM printers and
allows retailers to store and retrieve journal data electronically
using their printer instead of a terminal-based application
program.
Bud Weist,
director of sales and marketing, Epson, said, "The development of the
P7EJ interface is in direct response to the trend toward the use of
electronic journals in the retail market, and allows IBM users to add
the capability to their systems today and retain that investment as
they move to open systems in the future."
Using the
Connect-It P7EJ interface, journal data is written to nonvolatile
memory, where it is secure from power outages or surges without the
need for battery backup. Storage capability is 2MB, about the same as
seven rolls of journal paper. Stored data may be selectively
transmitted back to the host machine or printed to the receipt
station, and data can be retrieved for 10 years.
Additionally,
depending on the terminal configuration and printer selected,
Connect-It can add expanded print capabilities such as
high-resolution graphics and logos, coupon and bar-code printing,
check writing, and MICR printing.
Connect-It has
solutions for retailers that currently have IBM 4683, 4684, 4693 or
4694 terminals. For more information from Epson call (310) 782-0770
