What About My
Company?
You may read about
a company in The Green Sheet and think, "Hey, my company can do
that!" or "We just released a product, how come we're not in The
Green Sheet?"
Well, here's how
to improve the chances of making sure GS readers hear about your
companyótell us about it! Send press releases to
greenshttx@aol.com or fax them to (512) 467-7187.
If you're not sure
how to write a press release or exactly what a press release is, here
are a few hints that will help get your news item or announcement
read and maybe even printed.
- Don't delay
the news; put the who, what, where, when, and why of your
announcement at the beginning of your press
release.
- Try to keep it
to one page.
- Limit the
subjective descriptors such as, "best in the industry," "world
leader," or "nation's leading company." They will just get cut
anyway. (This will also help you keep it to one
page.)
- Try to get
your news out early. The Green Sheet, like many other
publications, works weeks or months ahead of print
dates.
- Finally, the
most important point: include a contact name, number, and Web site
(if available) that can be printed in The Green
Sheet.
That's all there
is to getting your news to The Green Sheet, Inc., and maybe printed
in The Green Sheet.
