Fire It
Up!
Becoming a great
salesperson isn't simply a matter of experience and skill; it's a
matter of motivation. Start by thinking about what you want and need,
rather than what others expect. Nothing will motivate you more than
your own needs and desires. When you wake up first thing in the
morning, energize yourself by thinking of a personal goal that you
have set for yourself. If you begin your day thinking of others
expectations of you then you will end up bringing resentment and a
low energy level to work, which in turn infects everyone around
you.
One good way to
keep your goals uppermost in your mind is to keep visual reminders
around you. Whether your goal is a tropical vacation or a new family
minivan, make sure you place brochures and other reminders where
you'll see them often.
If you've
forgotten the value of what you do, think about the people that your
product helps every day. It doesn't have to be a life-saving or
history-making product in order for you to take pride in it. Think
about it: essentially every product on the market secures employment
for others which means that you play an important role in other
people's lives and well being as well as those of their
families.
Attitude plays
such a tremendous part in everyone's lives. It's the first element
that everyone sees and also makes the biggest impact. Remember, your
body language speaks volumes and informs the whole world exactly how
you feel, whether it's good or bad. So lighten up. Be good to
yourself and look on the bright side of things. After all, looking on
the bright side never hurt anyone's eyes.
