Validation across software, monitoring and end-to-end solution gives payment providers three routes to phone-based card acceptance

Vélizy-Villacoublay, France – 06 October 2026. Castles Technology, leader in Android payment acceptance solutions, has completed PCI Mobile Payments on COTS (MPoC) validation across all three elements of its SoftPOS portfolio, with its Attestation and Monitoring (A&M) Service and end-to-end MPoC Solution joining its previously validated MPoC Software.

The validation gives acquirers, payment service providers (PSPs), gateways and independent software vendors (ISVs) greater flexibility in how they bring SoftPOS services to market, whether integrating payment acceptance into an existing application, using Castles Technology to provide the security monitoring infrastructure behind it, or deploying a complete solution.

SoftPOS is becoming an increasingly established part of the payment acceptance landscape as businesses look for more flexible ways to take card payments across different environments. Phone-based acceptance can support use cases including table service, queue-busting, deliveries, field sales and pop-up retail, while also giving smaller businesses an alternative route into card acceptance without the need for a traditional payment terminal.

PCI MPoC provides a security framework for software-based payment acceptance on commercial off-the-shelf devices such as smartphones and tablets. Alongside payment acceptance itself, the standard places emphasis on the ongoing security of the device environment, including attestation and monitoring.
