Autoagent survey finds homeowner frustrations with property tax payments

The online survey, conducted in July 2025, aimed to uncover the challenges homeowners face in managing property tax payments, particularly with escrow accounts, bill accuracy, and online services.
The survey revealed critical pain points and clear demand for more transparent, flexible solutions:
Widespread Dissatisfaction with Bill Accuracy: 57.9% of homeowners are somewhat dissatisfied with the accuracy of their property tax bills, with only 4.8% very satisfied.
Escrow Payment Issues: 43.5% occasionally and 14.5% frequently experience escrow payments not matching their county tax bill.
Poor Notification of Tax Changes: 41.1% were not properly informed of property tax changes, leading to confusion and frustration.
Unhappiness with Online Services: 45.9% are somewhat unhappy with their county’s online property tax services, signaling a need for better digital tools.
Strong Demand for Flexibility: 86.8% would benefit from monthly installment payments, and 86.9% would enroll or consider automatic payments to avoid late fees.
Insurance Cost Impacts: 43.5% report significant increases in insurance costs affecting escrow or property tax payments, exacerbating payment challenges.
