Iliad Solutions appoints South African payments expert Jill Murtagh

Leeds, UK – 1st September 2026. South African payments expert Jill Murtagh has been named by Iliad Solutions as part of its expansion plans in the country's financial services sector.

Jill will work with Iliad to further introduce its market-leading payment testing technology to banks, financial institutions and software developers, helping the company establish new relationships and identify opportunities in one of Africa's most mature payments markets.

Her role will include working closely with prospective customers, advising on local procurement processes and introducing Iliad to organisations undertaking payment modernisation programmes or looking to strengthen their testing capability.

Jill has spent several decades in banking, building an impressive career across Barclays Bank South Africa, First National Bank, ABSA, Mercantile Bank and, most notably, Bidvest Bank.

As Executive Head of Payments and Banking Operations at Bidvest Bank, she spent more than twenty years overseeing banking operations and payment gateways, while helping transform the organisation from a bureau de change into a fully licensed bank. During that time, she led the development of the bank's payment infrastructure, covering both domestic and cross-border payment services.

Anthony Walton, CEO of Iliad Solutions, said: "South Africa is an exciting market for us. Financial institutions are investing heavily in payment technology, and as those systems become more sophisticated, the need for thorough testing only increases.

"Jill has built an exceptional reputation over many years in the banking industry. She's been responsible for delivering payment infrastructure herself, so she understands the operational challenges our customers face every day. Just as importantly, she knows the market, understands how organisations buy technology and has relationships that have been built over decades. That combination makes her an outstanding addition to our team."

Commenting on her appointment, Jill Murtagh added: "I've spent my career working in payments, from operational banking through to building payment infrastructure, so I understand how important testing is to every successful implementation.

"Iliad has developed technology that solves real payment testing challenges for financial institutions. I'm delighted to be working with the team to introduce those capabilities to organisations across South Africa and help them deliver payment projects with greater confidence."

The appointment forms part of Iliad Solutions' wider international growth plans as demand continues to increase for specialist payment testing across real-time, domestic and cross-border payment programmes. With extensive experience across global payment schemes and financial market infrastructures, Iliad works with many of the world's leading financial institutions to reduce risk and improve the quality of payment system delivery.
