Having recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, DTLR/VILLA is one of the country's most successful lifestyle retailers with over 250 stores in 19 states, catering to young, trendsetting multicultural audiences. Shoe Palace is one of the most trusted footwear and apparel retail chains in the country, and prides itself on offering its customers the ultimate experience in shoe and apparel shopping.
DTLR/VILLA and Shoe Palace were recently acquired by JD Sports, a multichannel retailer of branded sports and casual wear with over 3,000 stores in 32 territories worldwide. In North America, the JD Sports family of brands also includes The Finish Line and Hibbett Sports. JD Sports is organizing its retail technology around the composable architecture paradigm – a cloud-based collection of integrated, best-of-breed solutions to promote agility, innovation and flexibility.
The retailers will leverage Jumpmind Commerce to power mobile Point of Sale, along with Jumpmind Inventory, to orchestrate exceptional store associate and shopper experiences with improved operational ease and efficiency.
With its fully microservices-based, API-first and cloud-native architecture, Jumpmind Commerce offers a mobile-first architecture and a highly intuitive user interface, enabling store associates to execute tasks with ease and engage seamlessly with customers throughout the store, enhancing personalized service and convenience. Offering multi-language and multi-currency support, Jumpmind Commerce will provide “endless aisle” customer fulfillment through seamless integration with existing order management systems.
Jumpmind solutions can be deployed in any cloud, on any operating system, and on any device. DTLR/VILLA and Shoe Palace will deploy Jumpmind on Adyen Castle S1E2L Android “all-in-one” devices. Beyond accepting payments, the devices will facilitate a seamless checkout experience for customers, enabling associates to manage inventory, and place online orders with goods shipped to the customer’s home. The devices feature a large touch screen, 5M pixel rear camera, barcode and fingerprint readers to help streamline store associate tasks.
“The move to Jumpmind Commerce for Point of Sale on mobile devices is part of a larger initiative to modernize our stores and elevate the shopping experience for our customers,” said DTLR/VILLA CEO Todd Kirssin. “We’re moving to larger store footprints so we can carry more of the hottest sportswear and streetwear brands; mobilizing access to information and processes will help associates stay close to customers and provide a rich and rewarding shopping experience.”
“DTLR/VILLA and Shoe Palace enjoy supporting the communities where our customers and associates live and work. Our new Jumpmind Commerce mobile Point of Sale implementation will enable our associates to serve customers at community events, pop-up displays, and in-market activations, with an all-in-one mobile POS,” said Shoe Palace CEO George Mersho.
“We’re pleased to welcome DTLR/VILLA and Shoe Palace to the Jumpmind family of retailers that are obsessed with tapping innovation for inspired in-store experiences,” said Joe Corbin, CEO of Jumpmind. “These two brands have played a key role in pioneering the lifestyle retail category, and we are pleased to partner with them to power their next stage of growth.”
